Mad Dogs “Game 1000”
The Mad Dogs Cricket Club was founded in 1990 by a group of players that included Jonathan Wentworth-Ping, Neil Kimberley, Justin Wilson and, a few years later, David Johnson, all of whom remain in contact with the club 29 years later. The Club Presidents, in sequence, were Jonathan Wentworth-Ping, Neil Kimberley, David Johnson and the present holder of the title, Sanjay Santhanam. The playing captains have been:
Club Captains
Jonathan Wentworth-Ping (1990-1993)
Gavin Murphy (1994-1998)
Brett Collins (1998-2002)
David Quirk (2002-2008)
Neil Harrison (2008-2010)
Sanjay Santhanam (2010-2013)
Keith Lawrence (2014)
Ravi Nichani (2015-2018)
Ganadeep Rey (2019- )
As of 6/29/2019, the club has played 992 recorded games since its foundation in 1990. During the 1990s and early 2000s, many games went unrecorded or the records have since been lost, perhaps over 100 in all. Hence the club probably passed the 1000-game mark a few years ago.
The team and player statistics can, of course, only be based on recorded games. They include all outdoor games started, but not ones that were canceled or conceded without any on-field play. Intra-squad games are excluded from the club playing records but included in personal records.
The 992 games have been played in many locations. They include several American States (CT, NY, PA, FL, NC, NJ), as well as abroad (Canada, Grenada, Nevis, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Spain, Czech Republic, Sint Maarten and one game of dubious provenance in Australia).
