Not included in official records:

Mad Dogs beat Valley Atomic (NYCL) and DJ Morrishaw (NYCL-T20) by concession

Notes:

The Won/Lost record of 35/42 is a major improvement on 2018 (21/46). Both the batting and bowling team numbers were also markedly improved, approaching parity with the opponents’ statistics in every respect. The improvement to the batting parameters was stronger than the bowling.

In respect of individual games, the 223-run victory margin and the 308 runs scored against Wadlali (who were short-handed) were new records, as was the 192-run margin of defeat against Adam Sanford All Stars (in a T20 game). Other notable events were the 305 runs conceded against Cornwall and the 303 against the All Stars, which are now 2nd and 3rd on the all-time list. The 10-wicket victory against Merion was only the second by that margin.

Several other games produced “Top 10” entries in respect of scores made and conceded (see Cumulative Team Records).

The intra-squad game is included.

This set of averages is the basis for all subsequent analyses.

Prasanna’s scoring rate was the second highest in club history for a single season, second only to his record of 179 in 2018. Munakala’s was 8th highest in history.

Four batsmen (vs. only one in 2018) passed 500 runs, Ali Abeer in his debut season. Ganadeep Rey’s aggregate of 737 was the 4th highest ever in a single season.  Jaga Thangavel passed 500 runs for the third time, Andy Fullard for the second time.

Note that, on average, a Mad Dogs’ wicket this season cost the opposition 19.81 runs at a scoring rate of 90.0 R/100b, but both those figures are inflated upwards to a significant extent (over 10%??) by extras, particularly by Willy Wide-Ball’s consistent contributions…

The intra-squad game is included.

This set of averages is the basis for all subsequent analyses.

Two bowlers reached the 50-wicket mark, Ali Abeer in his debut season (a unique occurrence). John Moore passed that mark for the 8th time. In 2018, the highest wickets number was only 35.

The five best bowling averages were all by slow bowlers of various descriptions.

Several bowlers had notable statistical improvements compared to 2018, with Anand Subramaniam, John Moore and Neil Harrison halving their bowling averages (or nearly so) and markedly improving their economy rates. The returns of Jagadeesan Thangavel and Bert Simon to major bowling responsibilities were also factors in the overall team improvements over last season.

Note that, on average, an opposition wicket this season cost the Mad Dogs’ bowlers 19.98 runs and is taken every 21.0 balls at a scoring rate of 5.71 runs/over (95.2 runs/100 balls). As wides and no balls are charged against the bowlers, the skewing effect of extras is minimal.

The bigger the Bunny Coefficient number, the bigger the killer.

Sriram Rangarajan wins his first award. His winning B/C of 7.67 is the third-highest ever-recorded…

At the other end of the table, Kalyan Venigalla’s BC of 2.88 is only the 3rd example of one under 3.00, the other’s being John Moore’s B/C of 2.91 in 2018, and Sanjay Santhanam’s 2.79 in 2015.
